Most of the content on the website and it's components (wiki, blog, etc) is distributed under an open license. Content that is not distributed under such a license is posted, with permission of the copyright owner(s), under the license detailed in the exceptions list at the bottom of this page.

If you have any questions about this page, please contact us.

All text not exempted in the exceptions list is posted under the GNU Free Documentation License. All content can be copied, modified, and redistributed so long as the new version grants the same freedoms to others and acknowledges the authors of the text used.

If you are posting on the internet, the attribution requirement can be satisfied with a direct link to the text. If you are distributing a printed document, print a listing of the authors of the relevant text. If no authors are listed, include a full URL to the text, or credit ""

Academic Publications

Academic publications should cite one of the research publications listed on the learn more page. If the content you would like to cite is not a part of one of these publications, provide a direct link and cite the author. On the blog you should use the permalink feature. On the wiki, click on history and list the URL citing the most recent version of the article (as these are likely to change). If you are citing base text on the main pages, you can use the following author list (note that this is subject to change in the future):

David Chaum, Richard Carback, Jeremy Clark, Aleksander Essex, Stefan Popoveniuc, Ronald L. Rivest, Peter Y. A. Ryan, Emily Shen, and Alan T. Sherman

Graphics and Video

All graphical elements, photographs, videos, etc. are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic license.

Authors for all images are listed either as a credit line underneath the image or in the image file properties. Please, DO NOT credit, or any of the options in the above text sections. A link back is not considered adequate attribution, but it is a nice thing to do in addition to listing the author.

Non-commercial Use

We do not consider using images indirectly in an informational news article or for informational purposes a commercial use, even if those documents are sold. Use of the images in advertisements, selling the images directly, etc. is considered a commercial use. If you have questions, use the contact link listed above.

High Resolution and other Licenses

In almost all cases, we can provide high resolution versions of everything on the website. We can also provide different licenses by request. Use the contact link above to request high resolution copies of images.

Source Code

All source code is released under the GPLv2. Some of the libraries are released under the LGPLv2.1. See the code for details.

Exceptions List

The following documents on the website are exempt from the above on the listed date and are posted under the given license:
